Gran Sasso d'Italia (Great Rock of Italy) is a massif in the Apennine Mountains of Italy. Its highest peak, Corno Grande (2,912 metres), is the highest mountain in the Apennines, and the second-highest mountain in Italy outside the Alps. The mountain lies within Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park.
The three main summits of the Gran Sasso are Corno Grande, which at 2,912 metres (9,554 feet) is the highest peak in the Apennines, nearby Corno Piccolo, and Pizzo d'Intermesoli, which is separated from the other two peaks by Val Maone, a deep valley. Corno Grande and Corno Piccolo's ash coloration come from their limestone and dolomite composition.

Born in Perugia and resident in Pisa. A life in the center of Italy I spent to become a computer scientist. Thousands of passions during this journey, but photography and mountains have always been there. I started going in the mountains, Alps or Apennines, ever since I was a child. In the best days of my youth, I introduced myself to film photography, just before the digital era arose. Here in Tuscany, I moved to the next steps of mountain experiences, with rock climbing, ski touring, and alpinism in general. Eventually, I decided to bring my digital camera along in my adventures, trying to make some decent pictures of these white sceneries.
